KOTA KINABALU: All attempts to intrude into Sabah have failed due to the preparedness of the security forces in guarding the sea borders, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

He said the police do receive information of attempted intrusions all the time, but such attempts have not been successful.

“There are no new cases of any intrusion so far although we do get information of such attempts from our sources,” he said after presenting awards to police officers and personnel involved in the Semporna and Lahad Datu intrusion last year.

“I have also visited the islands in Sabah recently to understand more about how operators are doing as well as to monitor the security at the islands,” he said.

Khalid added that the police were constantly on the alert for threats and hoped the public would continue supporting the force by providing information.

“We will continue to strengthen our police force and security along Sabah’s sea border and islands to ensure the safety of the people,” he said.

Khalid said police have also set up an action plan to help victims of disasters such as floods by moving assets and supplies to victims and other logistics.
