Waytha: Hindraf to go it alone in fight for Indian rights

KUALA LUMPUR: Hindraf will go it alone in its efforts to fight for the rights of Indians in the country, said former deputy minister P. Waythamoorthy.

“There’s no point at this juncture to talk of any form of cooperation because they (Barisan Nasional) have not honoured their promises,” he said here yesterday.

He was asked if the Indian rights group would work with the coalition after he quit the Government on Feb 10 this year.

Queried later on working with the Opposition, Waythamoorthy said: “We’re not going there. We are just focusing on Hindraf now.”

He had made these remarks after accusing the Government of not cooperating with Hindraf over the past eight months in bettering the state of Indian socio-economic issues.

The Hindraf chairman also accused Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak of lacking in political will on Indian matters although he was agreeable to ideas.
