Taib praises Chinese businessmen in Sarawak

MIRI: Outgoing Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud heaped lavish praise on Chinese pioneering businessmen who helped to transform the state into what it is today, citing the innovative and enterprising spirit of self-made Chinese business tycoons in Miri as an example.

He singled out Miri pioneer house-builder Datuk Lau Siu Wai as an excellent model of that pioneering-spirit - someone who had battled against all odds and not only survived, but thrived beyond expectations and then played key roles in building a society.
