KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional's candidate for the Kajang by-election would most likely be a MCA big gun if the coalition practices its "deeply-rooted" traditions when selecting candidates, says academic Datuk Mohammad Redzuan Othman.
"Looking at election history, Barisan has a deeply-rooted tradition of picking candidates. If an area had been held by Party A, normally Party A would get the chance to contest. In the Kajang context, the party that has historically contested is MCA, and following the Barisan tradition, MCA would be the most eligible candidate for the Kajang by-election," said Mohammad Redzuan who is University of Malaya Centre of Democracy and Elections (Umcedel) director.
