PETALING JAYA: A fake resignation letter has been circulated, allegedly from S. Kesavan, PKR’s assemblyman from Hutan Melintang in Perak, stating that he submitted his resignation to the Speaker of the state assembly.
The fake letter dated Jan 2 but purportedly received on Tuesday, Kesavan was allegedly cited as quoting a "loss of faith in and dissatisfaction with the party leadership."
PKR Communications director Fahmi Fadzil confirmed to the media that the letter was a fake with a letterhead that did not match the official letterhead.
Fahmi said that the party has advised Kesavan to lodge a police report over the fake letter.
DAP Perak chief Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham said by SMS that Kesavan "denied any truth in the purported resignation," casting doubt on the validity of the letter.
Furthermore, PKR supreme council member Mustafa Kamil Ayub said that he had attended a supreme council meeting last month with Kesavan and Kesavan had made no mention of the letter.
Instead Kesavan had told him that he was due to get married on Feb 16.
Kesavan first won the Hutan Melintang state seat in the March 8, 2008 elections.
He defended the seat in GE13 when he gained 10,155 votes to win by a margin of 1,240 votes over MIC candidate R. Supramaniam and two other candidates.
Attempts to contact Kesavan over the matter have not been successful.
