BENTONG: The tradition of spreading festive cheer amongst Malaysians to foster unity and harmony must be preserved, said MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.
Liow, who visited patients at the Bentong Hospital in conjunction with the Chinese New Year festivities, said that such occasions provided an opportunity for the various ethnic communities in the country to participate in the celebrations.
“We must all celebrate these festivities in togetherness to ensure that the joy of the occasion is enjoyed by all Malaysians,” Liow told reporters here yesterday.
“Preserving this tradition is crucial in Malaysia’s multicultural society as it would help foster goodwill and unity among the rakyat.”
Besides fostering unity, he added that such celebrations also provided the opportunity for Malaysians to help the less fortunate by providing assistance to them.
Liow later presented Chinese New Year goodies to patients on behalf of MCA and Bentong Chinese Assembly Hall.
