JOHOR BARU: Johor state MCA leaders have denied allegations that the teacher who was instructed to remove her tudung at a Chinese medium school in Kota Tinggi and the school's principal are both party members.
State Wanita MCA chief Wong You Fong said that a post had been circulating on Facebook claiming that the teacher and the school's principal were members of MCA.
"We have thoroughly checked our data and confirmed that there were no records of them being members.
"We believe that the user used an irresponsible politicking tactic to tarnish MCA's image," she said during a press conference here on Wednesday.
She added that the party wanted to clarify the issue as the post could lead to racial disharmony among locals here.
It was earlier reported that a board member of the school had instructed a Muslim-convert teacher there to remove her tudung if she wanted to continue teaching there.
The post by a Facebook user had various pictures comparing images of the principal (taken from her Facebook page) to pictures taken of members at the Wanita MCA national annual general meeting in December last year.
The user had also written a post stating that the teacher was a member of the party and criticised the party for not looking into the welfare of their own members.
The post, which was posted on Monday (Jan 20), had been shared over 250 times.
Gelang Patah MCA division chief Jason Teoh, who was also present at the press conference, challenged the Facebook user to prove that the post was true.
