Graves relocation on hold

JOHOR BARU: Datuk Mohamed Khaled Nordin has agreed to consider postponing the relocation of the five Chinese cemeteries in Pengerang here.

MCA deputy president Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong said he had raised the matter with the Johor Mentri Besar, explaining to him that the Chinese community was apprehensive about relocating the graves before the Qing Ming festival, which falls in April.

”He understands that, which is why he has agreed to consider moving the relocation to a later date,” said Dr Wee.

It has been reported that 3,400 graves would be relocated to make way for the Pengerang Integrated Petroleum Complex.

Dr Wee suggested that a committee be formed to ensure a smooth relocation process
