SUNGAI PETANI: P. Yogambigai (pic), the young woman who drowned in Pantai Kerachut, Penang, had earlier expressed her disappointment to her family for not being able to make it home for the Thaipusam celebration here.
Her uncle A. Ravindaran, 28, said his niece had missed the celebrations with her family for the first time due to work commitments.
“Her mother had assured her that it was okay, as she just got employed. Yogambigai also told us that she would make it up by having belated Thaipusam prayers with the family when she returned home,” he said when met at Yogambigai’s funeral in Taman Sejati Indah here yesterday.
Family and friends came from Penang, Ipoh, Johor, Selangor and Seremban to pay their last respects before she was cremated at the Taman Kempas Crematorium here.
As a hearse carrying Yogambigai’s coffin was led away, her mother S. Amaravathy, 51, wailed uncontrollably.
Her grieving family members and friends helped lead her back into the house.
