JOHOR BARU: Puspakom will be providing free vehicle inspections for all private vehicle owners in an effort to ensure roadworthiness for long-distance travel, especially during the Chinese New Year.
Its chief executive officer Mohammed Shukor Ismail said private vehicle owners can visit the nearest centre nationwide for the free inspection starting today until Jan 30.
Mohammed Shukor added that the free service was part of the company’s corporate responsibility initiative to increase public awareness on the importance of vehicle safety.
“Our well-trained vehicle examiners will be carrying out the inspections throughout the 12 days at all 55 inspection centres throughout the country,” he said in a statement, adding that there were eight inspection centres in Johor.
Vehicles would undergo a series of tests including (chassis and engine) identity check, emission test, sideslip (to determine cornering stability) test, undercarriage inspection, braking test, suspension test as well as the window film test.
“Over 3,000 vehicle owners benefited from the nationwide programme conducted last year.
“We are expecting a better turnout for this year and hope to conduct the programme yearly,” added Mohammed Shukor, who also advised customers to make an appointment for faster service.
Johoreans who wish to get their vehicles checked for free can visit the Puspakom centre from Sundays to Thursdays starting at 8am until 5.30pm, and on Saturdays from 8am to 5pm, though this also depends on the respective branches.
