KUALA LUMPUR: Extending his greetings to all Hindus in Malaysia on the occasion of Thaipusam, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said it was now not just a religious festival, but a national festival that held an important place in Malaysia's tourism calendar.
"As we celebrate 2014 as Visit Malaysia Year, I hope Thaipusam celebrations in various parts of the country will attract more visitors and tourists to experience the richness of Malaysian cultures and diversity," he said.
The prime minister said this in his latest blog entry at www.1malaysia.com.my.
Najib said he would join a walkabout in Batu Caves Friday to personally meet and greet those gathered there.
"Once again, I take this opportunity to wish you all a blessed Thaipusam," he added. - Bernama
