IPOH: Two people, one of them the driver, were badly hurt and eight others were slightly injured after an express bus they were travelling in skidded and landed in a ditch along the North-South Expressway near Taiping on Thursday.
Taiping Fire and Rescue chief Hasna Rashid said the bus was carrying 23 passengers from Lumut to Alor Setar when it knocked into the side railing at Km217.5 on a north-bound lane of the highway at 1.50 pm and landed in the ditch.
"All the injured people were rushed to the Taiping Hospital and the unhurt passengers were transferred to another bus and resumed their journey to Alor Setar, he added.
Twenty firemen from the Taiping and Kuala Kangsar fire and rescue stations helped the passengers out of the bus and cleaned up the oil spill on the body of the vehicle and on the road, said Hasna.
Taiping OCPD ACP Yusof Mohd Diah said the bus was trying to avoid ramming a car when the accident happened. - Bernama
