Azmin’s dismissal has nothing to do with upcoming party election, says MB

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim on Wednesday refuted the allegation that the dismissal of Azmin Ali from the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) Board of Directors has something to do with Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) election scheduled for May this year.

He said this was because the initial decision was not made by the state government, but by PKNS general manager Othman Omar.

"The decision not to renew Azmin's contract was made by PKNS general manager. It was neither made by the party, nor the state's executive council," the menteri besar told the reporters after chairing the council's weekly meeting here on.

Azmin's dismissal from PKNS Board of Directors had created uneasiness among Selangor PKR leaders to the extent of prompting its secretary, Amirudin Shari, through a report published on news portal, malaysiakini.com on Jan 13, to demand an explanation from Abdul Khalid about the issue.

When asked whether Azmin's dismissal was discussed by the PKNS Board of Directors, Abdul Khalid said he did not know.

"I don't know (whether Azmin's dismissal was discussed and agreed by the PKNS Board of Directors), but the letter of dismissal was given to Azmin and he accepted it," the Mentri Besar said. - Bernama
