KUALA LUMPUR: Eight new Malaysian heads of mission received their letters of appointment from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah at Istana Negara.
They are Datuk Ahmad Rasidi Hazizi, the new high commissioner to the United Kingdom, Amran Mohamed Zin who will serve in Turkey, Datuk Mohd Zulkephli Mohd Nor in Switzerland and Kennedy Jawan in Spain.
The others are Datuk Hidayat Abdul Hamid in Kazakhstan, Lim Juay Jin in Nigeria, Nadzirah Osman in the Czech Republic and Sharrina Abdullah in Senegal.
Ahmad Rasidi is a senior career diplomat who has served the Foreign Affairs Ministry since 1979 and has served in several countries including the Philippines and Laos.
Prior to his assignment to London, Ahmad Rasidi was ambassador to Kazakhstan.
Amran joined Wisma Putra in 1994 and has held key positions including Deputy Chief of Mission in Jakarta and Deputy Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the United Nations (UN) in Geneva, Switzerland.
Mohd Zulkephli has served as ambassador to Turkmenistan and Libya.
Kennedy Jawan was the high commissioner to South Africa between 2008 and 2013 and before that, served in several countries including Japan and Myanmar.
Hidayat, whose last post was the Deputy Director-General, South-East Asia Regional Centre for Counter Terrorism (SEARCCT), has served in Brunei and Argentina.
Lim joined the ministry in 1992 and was seconded as the special officer to the then Housing and Local Government Minister Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting from 2003 to 2007.
Prior to his assignment to Nigeria, Lim was the director of training at the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR).
Nadzirah, who joined the ministry in 1994, has served in Mexico before being posted to London.
Prior to her appointment to Prague, Nadzirah was undersecretary of Human Resource Management Division.
Sharrina has held key positions including undersecretary, Department of Research, Treaty and International Law from 2009 to 2011 and deputy chief of mission in Paris, France, from 2006 to 2009.
She also served as undersecretary of South and Central Asia.
