PETALING JAYA: The state government will be looking into the Islamic Religious Department’s (Jais) operations to ensure these comply with the standard operating procedure.
State exco Sallehen Mukhyi, who oversees Islamic affairs, said action would be taken if there was any negligence or breach of rules.
“The (recent) seizing of Bibles is the second incident involving Jais and Christians after a surprise inspection on the Damansara Utama Methodist Church (DUMC) last year,” he said.
“After the incident (on Thursday) the State Government asked Jais to provide a standard operating procedure when dealing with sensitive issues such as this, in order to avoid misunderstanding and suspicion.”
Sellehen said State Secretary Datuk Mohd Khusrin Munawi would be checking on Jais operations following the incident, on the orders of Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim.
