Cops tell 31 followers of ‘Tuhan Harun’ to surrender

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are urging 31 followers of the ‘Tuhan Harun’ cult to surrender themselves for questioning in connection with the assassination of the head of the enforcement division of the Pahang Islamic Religious Depart­ment (Jaip).

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said Monday that the police have identified the followers and they were required to surrender themselves as soon as possible.

“I advise them to surrender instead of waiting for us to coming after them.

“We intend to question them over the murder of Ahmad Rafli Abdul Malek, 49, at his home in Kuantan on Sunday,” he told a press conference after launching a crime prevention based on Islamic teachings seminar Monday.

Khalid said police were investigating whether the murder was connected to the Ahmad Rafli’s duties as an enforcement head, including investigating Shi’ia activities and the ‘Tuhan Harun’ cult.

“We will investigate whether the victim had receive death threats prior to his murder,” he said.
