Navy man detained in businesswoman's murder

IPOH: A 27-year-old man, believed to be a navy personnel, has been detained in connection with the murder of a businesswoman in Lumut.

The man, said to be the boyfriend of the 32-year-old victim, Nariza Mustapha, was detained after he brought the deceased to the Seri Manjung Hospital on Thursday.

Nariza had stab wounds on her chest. 

Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Jaafar Baba said the man has been detained for a week to facilitate the investigations.

ACP Jaafar said Nariza was confirmed dead upon arrival at the hospital due to excessive blood loss. The incident could have happened between 7am and 10.30am Thursday.

Police seized a knife, believed to be the weapon used in the incident.

It was reported that Nariza was found dead with stab wounds on her chest at her apartment by her boyfriend.

He claimed to have sent the victim's 11-year-old son to school at about 7am after spending the night there.

He said he returned to the apartment to find the front door partially opened. When he entered the house, he found the woman, lying on the floor of the bedroom. He rushed the woman to the hospital with the help of neighbours.

ACP Jaafar said the victim's body have been taken back to Rantau Panjang in Kelantan for burial.
