KUALA LUMPUR: Four ministries and two government-linked companies (GLC) will be called up next month to make clarifications on the 2012 Auditor-General report.
Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said they are the Transport Ministry; Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Ministry; Education Ministry; Home Ministry; and Khazanah Nasional Berhad and the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
Nur Jazlan, the Pulai MP, said the PAC would also call on the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) and Royal Malaysian Custom Department to clarify on their respective audit reports.
"The Transport Ministry will have to explain the delay of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) which has hiked its cost to RM4 billion from RM1.6 billion.
"It also has to clarify the Instrument Landing System (ILS) at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport which had 599 holes on the runway," he told reporters after chairing a second meeting of PAC at Parliament House.
The Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Ministry would be asked on the purchase of three problematic incinerators, he said.
Nur Jazlan said PAC would ask the Education Ministry on its failure to obey the stipulated guideline on the supply of quality security guards in schools.
He said the Home Ministry would be asked several other issues, including the missing police assets.
"IRD and Customs will be asked to explain on weaknesses in tax collection and work procedure.
1MDB would be asked to clarify on its fund management to give transparency to issues raised in the audit report," he said.
Khazanah was also given two weeks to furnish an official answer on media reports over its losses in several projects, Nur Jazlan added. - Bernama
