GEORGE TOWN: More than 90% of domestic workers work over 12 hours a day, most between 14-18 hours a day, revealed Tenaganita executive director Irene Fernandez.
She said some of the workers only slept for less than four hours a day without an off day in a week.
"Tenaganita's case management programme where we have assisted more than 2,000 domestic workers during the last eight years reveals that the situation is growing worse and is widespread.
"The pattern of abuse is increasingly becoming brutal and life-threatening," she said at the 'End Modern Day Slavery: Domestic Work is Work' campaign at Gurney Plaza here Sunday.
