KUALA LUMPUR: Rain on Tuesday evening brought some relief in several areas of the Klang Valley, where the people had put up with poor air quality over the last few days.
Several netizens tweeted that it had rained, from a light drizzle in some parts of Petaling Jaya and Cheras to heavier rain in Shah Alam, Subang Jaya, Gombak, Kepong and Seri Kembangan.
One tweeter also claimed that hail fell in Seri Kembangan.
Meanwhile, a Meteorological Department spokesman said rain also fell in several areas in Perak, Muar in Johor, as well as in Negri Sembilan, Malacca, Kuala Lumpur and Terengganu, Bernama reported.
The spokesman said rain has also been forecast for Port Klang in Selangor and Seri Manjung in Perak where the Air Pollutant Index (API) has been at the hazardous level of more than 300.
As at 5pm, the portal of the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry reported that the API in Port Klang and Seri Manjung was 464 and 290, respectively.
Air pollution level is categorised as hazardous when the reading is 301 or more; very unhealthy at 201 to 300; unhealthy at 101 to 200; moderate at 51 to 100 and good at zero to 50.
