KUALA LUMPUR: The frequent heavy rain and thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds recently is due to the transition from the northeast monsoon to the southwest monsoon, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MMD).
MMD deputy director-general Alui Bahari said the one-month transition period will affect the peninsula's west coast throughout April, usually during the evening.
