IPOH: Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) president Sultan Azlan Shah announced Saturday that Hockey Asia Cup 2013 would be held here.
The decision was made during a meeting Saturday morning, he said, when met after the presentation of certificates to Asia-level technical officers at the State Sports Council AHF MHC Hockey Academy in Perak.
During the meeting, it was also decided that the academy would be renamed Akademi Hoki Raja Ashman AHF MHC, in memory of the Sultan's late son who had contributed significantly to the development of the game in the country.
Also present at the certificate presentation by International Hockey Federation president Leandro Negree were AHF secretary-general Tan Sri P. Alagendra and Perak Hockey Association president Datuk Abdul Rahim Mat Ariff.
Meanwhile, Sultan Azlan Shah, who is the Sultan of Perak, expressed disappointment with the national squad's performance during the 21st Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Cup tournament.
The tournament is from May 24 to June 3.
Sultan Azlan Shah said the 1-4 loss to New Zealand, two days ago, was due to fragile defence.
"Two early goals within a few minutes should not have happened...similarly, the fourth goal," he said.
Nevertheless, he was satisfied with the performance of the young players who he said, had shown improvement. - Bernama
