Cleaner returns wallet with RM12,740

An Indonesian cleaner was rewarded with a Certificate of Appreciation from the police after she returned a wallet containing foreign cash worth RM12,740. Samona Marhama, 35, found the wallet in a baby changing room at Berjaya Times Square mall on Oct 9 and had handed it to her supervisor. "I did not open the wallet because it doesn't belong to me, and I have no right to check the content," she said. Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Sukri Kaman said police were in the midst of locating the owner, believed to be from the Middle East. The wallet, which has no identity card, contains US$3,000, Syrian pound worth RM74, and a portrait of a Middle Eastern family.
