'I am not stupid, I can read,' says actress Fathia Latiff

Local actress Fathia Latiff has responded to netizens who criticised her for purportedly misinterpreting a news headline, "Malaysia to be cashless society by 2050". "I am not stupid. I understand the headline. I had tweeted in a sarcastic tone," she said in her defence against those who lambasted her response to Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin's recent statement that the country is heading towards a cashless society. The actress had tweeted, "Are we back to stone age and using the barter trade. You give me a TV, and I'll give you a bicycle". She said the word cashless can be interpreted in different ways, adding she understood that Khairy was referring to the absence of cash notes in business transactions.
