Datuk among 10 people arrested in club brawl

Police have arrested 10 men, including a Datuk, and seized two pistols following a brawl in an entertainment club at Jalan Tun Razak on Wednesday. Among those detained were three locals, five British and two Irish men. In the incident, a British man had reportedly bumped his shoulder into two local men before a fight ensued at around 2am. City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Rusdi Mohd Isa said the situation became tense and turned into a massive brawl after friends of the three men got involved in the fight. It was reported that at least 15 men defending the local suspects, had fought against another group of 20 men, who took on the foreigners' side. Two local men, one of them a Datuk, then released a shot into the air to break up the fight. At least two men sustained serious injuries in the fight and were sent to Hospital Kuala Lumpur, while another eight men received outpatient treatment. The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code and Section 39 of the Arms Act 1960 for discharging firearms in restricted area.
