Baby scalded by hot cooking oil

A 15-month-old baby girl was badly scalded by hot cooking oil and suffered 20% burns over her body following a fight between adults at a food stall in Bukit Ampang on Nov 11. The victim Nur Arissa Jannah is still being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) one week after the unfortunate incident. Her father Mohd Salim Nurali, 20, said a group of three men came to confront him at his workplace over a misunderstanding with a co-worker. "During the incident, my wife and child were in the kitchen and the attackers suddenly barged towards us without warning. One of them kicked the wok filled with cooking oil and it flipped over," he said. The scalding oil, which was used to fry potatoes, spilled and burned both Nur Arissa and his wife, Nor Narissa Sofea, 20. All three suspects fled from the scene and Mohd Salim quickly rushed the victims to Hospital Ampang before they were transferred to HKL. Mohd Salim said he bears no grudges against the suspects and leave it to the police to handle the case.
