> Man fails to smuggle in packet drinks from Thailand
The Malaysian Border Security Agency (Aksem) thwarted a man's attempt to smuggle in a total of 155 packet drinks from Thailand. It was reported that the packets drinks were not approved by the Health Ministry and were not in compliance with the Food Act 1983. The 36-year-old man was stopped at a roadblock at 10pm on Sunday along the North-South Highway heading towards Changlun. Officers pulled over the 25-tonne lorry he was driving, which was transporting vegetables from Thailand to the Selayang wet market. A further check found the packet drinks hidden behind a canvas together with the vegetables. "The lorry driver claimed that he was unaware of the drinks and had only received instructions to drive the lorry into Selangor. He was released, but the stock were seized," said Bukit Kayu Hitam Aksem deputy commander, Inspector Kamar Barin.
