Man thought dead wife was 'sleeping'

A man, believed to be mentally unstable, stayed beside the body of his dead wife for four days at a village in Limbang, Sarawak.

It was reported that the man thought his wife, Lusi Tuyu, 79, was throwing a tantrum by refusing to wake up.

Doctors from Hospital Limbang knew of the incident on Wednesday when they visited the couple at their home for their regular check-up.

They found the decomposed body after entering the house located at Kampung Buangsiol.

District police chief Supt Mohd Bukhori Saffai said the man told villagers that the deceased had been sleeping all day despite wearing nice clothes.

"He had told the neighbours that his wife had refused to eat although he tried to feed her. However, everyone minded their own business and ignored him," said Mohd Bukhori.

The case was classified as sudden death.
