KL Fire and Rescue Dept thwarted 186 suicide attempts since 2006

> KL Fire Dept received 238 suicide rescue calls since 2006
The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department received 238 rescue calls for suicide cases from 2006 to 2014, its director Khirudin Drahman said. He said the department managed to thwart 186 suicide attempts but there were 23 deaths. He disclosed that there were two types of suicide scenarios - either there was zero chance for rescue or the subject was seeking attention.

The lack of enforcement under the Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Act 2007 (Act 672) is resulting in clogged drains from the irresponsible actions of eateries and car workshops. Trash such as leftover food, oil and grease is being dumped into drains, clogging them and causing a bad stench. However, the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (PPSPPA) has commenced an "Ops Longkang" campaign that focusses on 140 locations in Kuala Lumpur which have a poor record of waste management.

One of the three female bullies in a viral video who brutally beat up her schoolmate is filled with remorse and has asked to be forgiven. The 16 year-old student has apologised to her parents for not being able to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri with them after being sentenced to two years of rehabilitation early last month. The teenager said she attacked the victim due to peer pressure and still has no idea who recorded the incident and uploaded the video onto YouTube.

> Peeping Tom caught in Segamat hawker centre
A peeping Tom was nabbed spying on a woman in a public toilet at a hawker centre in Segamat. Passers-by rushed to the toilet when they heard the victim shouting for help after she caught the suspect peeping at her Sunday afternoon. The 35-year-old suspect was caught by passers-by and handed to police, who detained him for further investigations.

> Wang Feng calls off planned proposal to Zhang Zhiyi at concert
Chinese singer Wang Feng did not propose to his Chinese star girlfriend Zhang Zhiyi at his concert as speculated by the media. Major Chinese dailies had reported that the 43-year-old singer would express his love in front of his 100,000 fans during his concert at Beijing's Bird's Nest Stadium last week. However, Wang did not propose as speculated while Zhang, 35, also did not attend the concert. Sources said Wang aborted his plan after his friends accidentally revealed it.

> PKR may recommend Ijok rep Dr Idris for Selangor MB post
PKR is expected to propose another candidate - Ijok assemblyman Dr Idris Ahmad - to replace Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim. Sources said Dr Idris, who is the Wilayah Persekutuan PKR chairman, is acceptable to Khalid. However, the faction supporting PKR deputy president Azmin Ali could be against the decision to recommend Dr Idris as Azmin is also a potential candidate for the post. When contacted, Dr Idris refused to comment on the matter. Azmin and Khalid could not be reached for comment.
