> Village to hold nasi ambeng feast if Germany win World Cup
Residents at Kampung Parit Jerman, which earned its name after German nationals took up residence in the village for pineapple trading, will throw a grand nasi ambeng feast if Germany secure victory in the World Cup final on Monday morning. For over 40 years, the Perak village has thrown its support behind Germany in the World Cup, and the team’s 7-1 blitzkrieg against host Brazil has given them more cause for cheer. Nasi ambeng, which is a traditional favourite of rice, fried noodles, sweet tofu skin with tempe (soya bean cake), fried grated coconut and fried chicken, is suitable for communal celebrations as each serving is shared on a large platter by four people.
