The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry and the Social Welfare Department (JKM) have voiced their support of the ban on soup kitchens operating within a 2km radius of the city centre.
Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim explained that the Government did not intend to stop or punish others from doing charity, but that the ban was meant to discourage homeless people from relying on free meals, noting that “it is not good for a developed nation”.
