ESU is back


THE English Speaking Union (ESU) of Malaysia in collaboration with The Malaysian Institute of Debating & Public Speaking (MIDP) and The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus will once again be organising their annual Public Speaking Competition.

The competition is open to all Malaysians aged between 16 and 20 and will kick off with a public speaking workshop at the University of Nottingham office in Chulan Tower, Jalan Conlay, Kuala Lumpur on March 26.

The day-long workshop will also be held in Penang and Kuching on April 1.

The fee for the workshop is RM100 including refreshments and all workshop participants will receive a certificate of participation.

During the competition, all participants will be required to deliver a prepared speech on the theme “To define is to limit “ as well as an impromptu speech at the preliminary round.

The finals, to be held on April 15, will have the participants speaking on the national theme “Peace is not an absence of war”.

Participants will be judged on the substance of their speech, expression and delivery.

The national champion will win an all-expense trip to London to take part in the International Public Speaking Competition to be held from May 8 to 12.

All finalists will also receive a certificate of merit.
