UNIVERSITY Malaysia of Computer Science & Engineering (UniMy), Malaysia’s first computer science and information technology-focused university was established via a private-public initiative with the government early last year. In cooperation with its global industry partners Autodesk, Microsoft, Dell, Huawei, IBM and CSC, the university recently awarded the UniMy Global Industry Partners Scholarships (GIPS) for academic excellence to 11 of its students.
The ceremony, attended by Second Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh, celebrated the university’s commitment to help raise the benchmark in Malaysian higher education, while the scholarships address the shortage of high quality and professional talents in the information technology (IT) sector, providing students with the chance to undergo mentorship and internship, expose them to the working environment in international organisations and even serve as a pathway to future employment in these renowned IT organisations.
