Grand Lexis hotel makes use of its own bus to send essential items to flood victims

IMAGES of the devastation caused by floods in the East Coast states had such an impact on the management of the Grand Lexis Hotel in Port Dickson that they immediately wanted to do their bit to help the victims.

They collected dried foodstuff, including rice and instant noodles, bedsheets and bottled water, and sent it to Menara Star in Petaling Jaya to be distributed to the victims.

Hotel general manager Chan Hon Ming said the management wanted to do its bi6 after seeing the widespread damage caused by the floods.

“Many families have lost almost everything so we all need to pitch in,” he said.

Chan added that the bedsheets should come in useful.

“We had them dry-cleaned first,” he said.

The hotel used its own bus to send the items to Menara Star instead of renting a lorry.

“Instead of paying the lorry driver RM700, We decided to use the money to buy more stuff for the victims,” he said.

The hotel’s corporate office based in Kuala Lumpur had also raised funds to buy other essential items.

“They handed the items to an NGO in Kajang for distribution,” he said.

Chan said the hotel also decided to cancel their 2015 countdown to show solidarity with the flood victims.
