CHILDREN from less than well-to-do families are refusing to go to school in fear of appearing inadequate among their peers.

Mother of five S. Visalachi, 39, was told by her four schoolgoing children that they do not want to attend school because they were embarrassed at not being able to afford books and learning materials.
