Call to promote traditional fishing methods

KANOWIT: Traditional ways of catching fish for a living, like using the tagang system, is still being widely promoted by the Sarawak government.

Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang, who is Agriculture Modernisation Minister, said some modern ways of catching fish were illegal. He cited the usage of poison and electricity to catch fish as harmful and only bringing short-term gains.
