Visitors are spoiled for choice, with 20 food and pastry stalls at One Utama's Oval and High Street areas during the mall's "Fin-tastic Moonlight" Mid-Autumn promotion.
PARENTS looking to spend some fun time with their children can head to 1Utama’s “Fin-Tastic Moonlight” event, currently taking place at the mall’s Lower Ground Floor Oval and Highstreet areas.
The event is so named because the stalls’ covers are made with a fish theme in mind. A bird’s eye view of the Oval will unveil a pool of fish surrounding the moonlight.
With 20 stalls, those looking to grab their mooncakes or other Mid-Autumn Festival sweets are spoilt for choice.
Aside from mooncakes, there are also tea bricks, mochi and pastries as well as ice-cream mooncakes to try out.
While it might be too late for children to try their hand at the Dough Craft sessions which took place on Saturday, there is still the “Mooncake Mania with Malayan Flour Mills” event taking place on Saturday.
“Children can try their hand at moulding and baking their own mooncake during Mooncake Mania,” said Bandar Utama City Centre Sdn Bhd’s Advertising and Promotions general manager Patrick So.
He added they would need to register for participation 30 minutes before the event.
“We also want to educate visitors on the different regional mooncakes eaten during the festival,” said So, producing a leaflet which explains four other types of Chinese mooncakes.
Aside from the Guangdong style familiar with most consumers, there are also the “Beijing”, “Suzhou” (with flaky layers of dough, filled with sugar and lard), “Yunnan” (filled with Yunnan sausage and a thin crust), and “Quzhou” (filled with black sesame).
Entertainment-wise, there will be ongoing performances taking place mainly on Sept 6 and 7, with Chinese musical instruments, drum shows and even “fish” and dragon dances.
Fin-tastic Moonlight runs from now until Sept 8.
