KUCHING: There is a long list of animals and by-products that cannot be sold in Sarawak but at Serikin, a border town near Kalimantan, exotic items like turtle eggs are still sold openly.
Mid-last year, a bust by the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) unearthed a staggering 2,800 turtle eggs at Pusat Tamu Serikin. Following that, the illegal trade reportedly slowed, and with the monsoon season around year-end, the bazaar became less frequented.
