Learning about poverty at famine camp

Doing good: Camp participants accompanying Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan (second right) to deliver food to a needy family.

KUCHING: Local NGO Hope Place and the Jalan Tun Jugah SIB Church youth group held a World Vision 30-hour famine camp during the Hari Raya school holidays.

Themed “Kick Out Hunger”, the camp provided an opportunity for the 39 participants to learn about real-world issues of hunger as they fasted and raised funds to tackle the root causes of poverty.
