IT WAS a night of glitz, glamour and celebration as The Star Media Group feted its corporate clients during the company’s Corporate Night at the Broadway Musical of Jersey Boys at Istana Budaya.
Corporate bigwigs, their spouses, socialites and celebrities were treated to an evening of socialising and delicious treats as they waited for the show to begin.
The cast of Jersey Boys gave a rousing performance and were very well received by the audience. They were given a standing ovation during their last appearance on stage for the night.
The show is organised by Milestone Production Sdn Bhd and is supported by Malaysian Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) as well as Tourism Malaysia under the Tourism and Culture Ministry. Star Publications (M) Bhd is the Gold Sponsor with Red FM as the official radio station.
Milestone Production Sdn Bhd managing director Grace Lee said reception for the show had exceeded their expectations.
“We have guests telling us that they want to see the show again and get tickets for their friends and family.
“Although it has been a tough couple of months, it has certainly been worth it to see such a huge turnout,” she said, adding that about 100 locals were involved in the production.
Present at the event were Star Publications (M) Bhd group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, The Star group chief editor June H.L. Wong, deputy group chief editor Leanne Goh and Star Radio Group chief executive officer Calvin Kan.
Also in attendance were Red FM radio announcers Joanne Kam Poh Poh and Fiqrie, as well as actor/producer Hans Isaac and actor Adi Putra.
The Tony Award-winning stage musical, now in its 10th year, finally made its Malaysian debut and fans can enjoy this blast from the past until April 27.
Jersey Boys is based on a true rags-to-riches story of four Italian-Americans who became one of the most successful pop groups — Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.
The four — Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi — started out in the club circuit in New Jersey before hitting it big.
Jersey Boys is currently being staged at Istana Budaya, Jalan Tun Razak in Kuala Lumpur until April 27.
