Artist finds fresh ideas for latest works upon returning to her birthplace

Artist Kate Hunt (left) briefing guest Frances Wilks (right) about her artwork, Uncover II.

KATE Hunt was born in Penang, but until a few years ago, she had few tangible memories of her brief childhood there. Instead, all she knew was through hearsay and old black and white photographs.

Her father was a chaplain in the Royal Air Force in what was then Malaya, and the family moved to Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) in 1952 when she was just 18 months old, too young to remember anything.
