JOHOR BARU: Syarikat Air Johor (SAJ) is beefing up its operations to ensure there will be sufficient supply of water during Chinese New Year celebration starting from Jan 24 until Feb 8.
Its corporate communications chief Jamaluddin Jamal said as part of the action plan, the company would constantly monitor all 44 water treatment plants, 594 water tanks and 64 pump houses.
“Normally, water consumption rises during major festive seasons and we will make sure consumers will not face disruptions during the period,” he said.
Jamaluddin said on standby would be 195 static tanks and 26 lorry tanks in case there was water disruption.
He also said the company would install pressure-reducing valves at certain locations to balance the water pressure within the water piping network as surge in consumption could lead to lower water pressure.
“The device will help to overcome possibilities of broken pipe incidents due to high water pressure,” said Jamaluddin adding if such incidents took place, SAJ’s appointed contractor would work round-the-clock to solve the problem.
He advised consumers to use water wisely as water consumption was expected to increase throughout the festive season.
Consumers facing water-related problems or want to enquire on the water supply status or to ask for assistance could contatct SAJ Info Centre hotline at 1-800-88-7474 or send SMS to 019-7727474.
