On the road for a noble cause

MISSION for Missing Children, or better known as MfMC, is a non-profitable and politically independent organisation that aims to promote the children’s safety issues through their outdoor activities such as cycling, running, swimming, triathlon and mount climbing.

And from last Saturday until Friday, a group of 20 riders will be cycling from Woodlands in Singapore to Hatyai in Thailand to further promote their cause. Along the way, they will be making stops at various places to reach out to the society members to share tips and information about children’s safety. Among the stopovers will be Sek Keb Teluk Kemang in Port Dickson and Sek Keb Seri Selamat in Setiawan, whereby they will conduct talsk for school children.

“It is our hope that our efforts will help to raise awareness on children’s safety so that no more children will go missing in the future”, said MfMC chairman Mohd Khafiz Bachok.

As to why MfMC is doing the ride, Mohd Khafiz said: “This is our contribution to society and by doing what we love to do, i.e. cycling. It is no longer just about our passion for cycling, but more importantly how we can benefit the society from our activities.

“Cases of missing children repeatedly occur and what needs to be done is to continuously create awareness on these safety issue, which through our observation is what the society is lacking. Hence, MfMC is here trying to address thematter.”

According to Mohd Khafiz, the ride is open to all cyclists out there, who want to ride for a good cause. The event is a non-sponsored and self-financed ride. Interested cyclists can do the entire ride or join in at any stage.
