Making life easier for us

WE all experience days when it is nearly impossible to get a taxi, especially during peak hours. Now, there is a new app in town called Uber, which can solve that problem.

For those who are trying to get into shape, the Just 6 Weeks app will help you tone your body with easy-to-use workout programmes.

Uber (Android, iOS)

The global on-demand private car hire firm app, Uber, was launched in Kuala Lumpur, which provides users with an on-demand, private and luxury car service to take them comfortably to where they need to go in 60 major cities around the world.

Travellers can use the same app in any city in which Uber is operational.

What I like about this app is you can go cashless, because it charges via credit/debit card.

Just download the Uber app for iPhone, available on the App Store or for Android on Google play or sign up online via www.uber.com/go/MYUBERAPP.

Launch your Uber app on your phone, request a car, and within minutes, your ride will show up to take you to your destination.

The app geo-locates you so you can see where your car is on a live map and get a notification when it is arriving.

All payments are processed in the app via credit card and your receipts are emailed to you promptly.

In conjunction with the launch, The Star readers who are new users can enter the promo code MYUBERAPP that will give them one FREE Uber ride worth up to RM100.

The offer is valid from today until April 8.

You can also share this promo code with your friends who download the Uber app.

As part of Uber’s sign-up process, a credit card is necessary.

Some fare estimations would comprise KLCC to Bangsar Baru (between RM29 and RM37), KLCC to KL Sentral (RM26-RM33) and Subang Jaya to Publika (RM64-RM71). There is a flat fare of RM300 from KL to KLIA.

Just 6 Weeks (Android, iOS)

I would consider this as my own virtual personal trainer. We all have to cut down on expenses this year, anyway.

You just need to find your favourite (and comfortable) spot, with your smartphone at your side and discipline yourself to 10 minutes, three times a week to doing push-ups, sit-ups, dips, squats and pull-ups. It even has a workout schedule with reminders. You can get detailed statistics of your exercises and adjust your workout intensity.

Realistically, depending on the individual and fitness levels, I suppose you might see some difference within six weeks if you adhere to proper diet as well.
