Robbers leaves empty-handed after failed bank heist attempt

MIRI: An attempt to break into a cash deposit machine at a commercial bank located at Boulevard Commercial area failed, apparently because the robbers could not beat the security measures. In the 2.04am incident yesterday, the robbers were forced to leave empty-handed after failing to prise open the inner security boxes which held the cash.

According to Miri deputy police chief Supt Stanley Ringgit, when the bank’s security alarm went off, it alerted the security centre in Kuala Lumpur. It was the centre that alerted the bank manager here who then called the police for assistance. “Our team reached here about 15 minutes later, but by then the robbers had fled the scene.”
