Vets to be enlisted by MBPJ to educate pet owners

IN A move to prevent flea-borne diseases from spreading, the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) will enlist the help of veteri- narians in the city to educate pet owners.

Petaling Jaya mayor Datin Paduka Alinah Ahmad said the council would write to veterinarians and get their help to educate pet owners on the importance of flea control in helping to prevent diseases such as flea-borne typhus (murine typhus), a disease transmitted to humans through infected fleas living on rats.
