KUCHING: Sarawak joined Malaya, Singapore and Sabah to form Malaysia mainly for security reasons because during the 1960s, South East Asia was in political turmoil.
In stating this, Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud said the decision to be a part of Malaysia was made by the first state Cabinet.
