KUCHING: The respective pledges of Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat to set up a special court and commission have been described as a “step in the right direction” to resolve long stan- ding native land rights controversies.
“Although land issues are state matters, such manifestos will ensure that the state governments will follow up,” Human Rights Commission of Malaysia commissioner Detta Samen said yesterday.
