MALACCA: Dragon boat racing originated about 2,500 years ago in China during the Han Dynasty as a traditional festival that evolved from myths and legends.
Multi-coloured boats were decorated with ferocious-looking dragonheads, scaly bodies and elaborate tails that rose out of the sea.
