THE upcoming Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara has appointed Thomas Gassner as its general manager.

The German native with more than 30 years’ experience in the hospitality industry will helm the hotel, scheduled to open in the middle of this year.

Gassner joined AccorHotels in 2004 as food and beverage manager at Sofitel Munich Bayerpost and has held a number of senior management positions within the group. Prior to this appointment, he was the hotel manager of Pullman Jakarta Indonesia and Pullman Bali Legian Nirwana.

“Sofitel is a global brand with a strong French heritage blending local culture and French art de vivre to create magnificent moments for travellers seeking a uniquely elegant experience,” said Gassner.

“Guests staying at Sofitel Kuala Lumpur can look forward to a distinctive service from the heart with contemporary accommodation and an array of gastronomic delight,” he added.

The Sofitel Kuala Lumpur will be AccorHotels’ first Sofitel Hotels and Resorts to debut in Kuala Lumpur.

Strategically located in the heart of Damansara Heights, the hotel features 312 luxurious guestrooms including 23 suites, five F&B outlets, seven meeting and event venues. Leisure facilities include an outdoor pool, the signature So Spa and So Fit.
